MRS. RACHEL TRESTER

Rachel Ellen Titus Trester was born in Ohio, Jan. 6, 1826 and died Jan. 13, 1913 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lucinda Goff of Macksburg.

She was married to Jacob H. Trester, Jan. 19, 1842, in Indiana. To this union was born nine children, three of whom died in infancy; those living are Mrs. Angeline Wilson of Des Moines, Ia., James Trester of Roberts, Wis., Polly Alexander of South Dakota, Mrs. Alice Cunningham of Bevington, Mrs. Lucinda Goff of Macksburg and Samantha Dunn of Winterset, Iowa. All were present when she died except Mrs. Wilson and Mrs. Alexander.

"Aunt Rachel" as she was known was a kind and loving mother, a friend to everyone. She was a devoted christian, giving her heart to God in early childhood. She was grandmother and great grandmother. Four of her grandsons and two great grandsons were her pall bearers and all of her own children, except Mrs. Alexander and nearly all her grandchildren and great grandchildren were present at the funeral, which was held at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Cora Keeler, 1000 Lyon street, Des Moines at 2 p.m. Jan. 15, 1913. Her body was laid beside her husband, Jacob H. Trester, in Woodland cemetery. The Rev. Elmore A. Elliott of Des Moines, being in charge of the services.
