GEORGE GAEKLE DIED THURSDAY

Native of Winterset Had Lived in Des Moines Past 43 Years

George W. Gaekle, a native of Winterset and member of a formerly well-known family in this community, died Thursday, Nov. 26, in Des Moines where he had lived for many years. He was 65 years of age.

Mr. Gaekle was born in Winterset on Jan. 19, 1888, son of Andrew and Mary Gaekle. He learned the printing trade in the shop of the Winterset Madisonian, but moved to Des Moines when he was 18 years of age, and had lived and worked there for 43 years. He had been employed at the old Des Moines Capital, The Des Moines News and Iowa Homestead. For the last 23 years he had been with the Des Moines Register. He was a member of the International Typographical union, and the Highland Park post of the American Legion.

Surviving are his wife, Anne; a son, George W. Gaekle Jr., of Oroville, Calif.; a granddaughter; a brother, Rigo Gaekle of Oskaloosa; and two sisters, Hertha Gaekle of Winterset and Louise Gaekle of Muscatine.

Funeral services were held Saturday from Dunn's Funeral home in Des Moines, with burial made at Glendale cemetery there.
