M. E. BREEDING DIES IN ACCIDENT

Killed in Fall From Truck on Road Near Macksburg Last Saturday

M. E. Breeding, bulk agent for the Standard Oil company in this community for many years, died Saturday evening in an unusual accident near Macksburg.

Breeding's body was found by the side of his tank truck on a road near the Warren Smith farm northeast of Macksburg. One foot was still in the cab of the truck, but his head and shoulder were resting on the road. William Thornburg of Winterset, who had been riding with Breeding, told officers that the latter had fallen from the truck.

The accident occurred about 7 p.m. Saturday. Breeding had pulled the truck to the side of the road and stopped, but the motor was still running. He was dead when Smith arrived from his nearby farm home. Smith notified his wife, who called officers to the scene.

An autopsy was held Saturday night by County Coroner Paul Eggleston and Dr. R. F. Birge, Des Moines pathologist. Following the autopsy, Doctor Eggleston said that "death was pobably caused by neck injuries sustained in the fall".

Mr. Breeding was 48 years of age at his death and had lived practically all of his life in this community. He was born near Winterset June 19, 1904, a son of George and Nora (Worley) Breeding. On May 14, 1933, he was married at Bethany, Mo., to Fern Agnes Wright of Winterset.

He is survived by his wife; his mother, Mrs. Nora Breeding; five brothers, Wesley, Luther, Alfred, Paul and Wayne; and three sisters, Mrs. Jerome L. Lorenz, Mrs. Elmer Mapes and Mrs. R. E. McDonald.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Richards Funeral home conducted by the Rev. Walter Cecil, pastor of the First Baptist church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
