HARRY THOMAS FUNERAL HELD

Macksburg Businessman Died Last Saturday at 64 Years

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon Oct. 3, from the Macksburg Methodist church for Harry M. Thomas.

Mr. Thomas died Oct. 1 at his home in Macksburg, following a two months illness. He was 64 years of age.

Since 1931 he had owned and operated a garage and welding shop in Macksburg.

The son of George and Ella Thomas, he was born April 16, 1891 at Salem in Lee county, Iowa. As an infant, he came with his parents to a farm in Webster township of this county.

On Feb. 20, 1912, he was married to Alice McKeever at Brooklyn, Iowa.

As a young man, he joined the Wesley chapel church in Webster township later transferring his membership to the Macksburg Methodist church.

Mr. Thomas was also a member of the Macksburg I.O.O.F. lodge.

Surviving in addition to his wife are eight children, Raymond of Van Meter, Laurence of Macksburg, Claire of Des Moines, Donald of Winterset, Mrs. Lois Foster of Palo Alto, Calif., Mrs. Dale Blank of Burlington, Mrs. Arlene Nixon of South Bend, Ind., and Shirley Doengess of Macksburg; 18 grandchildren; three brothers, Floyd Thomas of Winterset, Vern of Greenfield and Dale of Palo Alto; and one sister, Mrs. Mamie Hammans of Winterset.

Officiating at the services Monday afternoon was the Rev. C. M. Rowe, pastor of the Macksburg Methodist church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
