GEORGE ROBERTS BURIED SATURDAY

George W. Roberts, who was buried in the Winterset cemetery Saturday, following his death April 22 at Phoenix, Ariz., was a native of this county and spent his active life here.

He was born in Lee township June 20, 1891 the eldest son of Charles and Eliza Evans Roberts. He was married June 19, 1902 to Marie Niendorf of Van Meter. They spent their life in Madison county, until moving to Arizona 10 years ago for his health. He was 73 years of age at his death.

Surviving are his wife; a son, Paul V. Roberts of Phoenix; three daughters, Mrs. Elmer Utsler of Phoenix, Mrs. Kenneth Hope of St. Charles, and Mrs. Ray Gray of Patterson; four grandchildren; two brothers, Frank Roberts of Winterset, and Joe Roberts of Los Angeles, Calif.; and two sisters, Mrs. Julia Morris and Mrs. Steve Sutton, both of Glendale, Calif.

Mr. Roberts was a member oa Zion Lutheran church at Phoenix.

Funeral services were held from Memory chapel at Phoenix, April 25, conducted by his pastor there, the Rev. Robert W. M. Schaller. The body was then returned Winterset where services were held April 30, from the Richards Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. C. G. Meyer of Van Meter. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

George Roberts Buried Saturday

George Roberts of Phoenix, Arizona former resident of Madison and Dallas counties died at his home in Phoenix on April 22nd, after a lingering illness.

His body was returned to Winterset and services for him were held at the Richard’s Funeral Home at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 30th.

Former services had been held in Phoenix, where Mr. Roberts had affiliated with the Lutheran church.

Rev. C. G. Meyer of Van Meter officiated at Saturday’s services with interment in the Winterset cemetery.

Mr. Roberts was 72 years of age.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, the former Sophia Marie Niendorf; a son, Paul Vernon Roberts; and three daughters: Mrs. Kenneth Hope of St. Charles; Mrs. Ray Gray of Patterson; and Mrs. Elmer Utsler of Phoenix; and four grandchildren.

All of his children were present for the services.
