FRANK G. MARTIN DIES AT 84 YEARS

Had Been Resident of This County for 62 Years

Frank G. Martin, a well known resident of Douglas township for many years, died Friday, March 25, at Madison county Memorial hospital in Winterset. He was 84 years of age.

Mr. Martin had been a resident of Madison county for 62 years. He was a native of Alleghany county, Pennsylvania, where he was born Dec. 8, 1870, a son of Robert and Rebecca Edmondson Martin. When he was a small boy the family moved to Klingman, Kans., where he spent his early life. In 1891, when he was 21 years of age, he staked out a claim during the opening of the Cherokee strip in Oklahoma.

The following year he came to Madison county, settling in South township. He later engaged in carpenter work with two of his brothers, building a number of homes in Winterset. He purchased a farm in Douglas township just northwest of Winterset, where he made his home until his health failed a few weeks ago.

Mr. Martin was married on Oct. 5, 1897 to Juanaetta Rollstin. They were parents of two sons, Clifford and Rex, both of Winterset. The wife and mother died in 1904 and on Nov. 1, 1911, he was married to Myra Belle Rollstin. To them was born a daughter, Lois, now Mrs. Jno. N. Hartley of Winterset. His second wife preceded him in death in 1951.

In addition to the three children, he is survived by four grandchildren; one great grandchild; and a sister, Bess Martin of California.

Funeral services were held Sunday from the Richards Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Warren Hile, pastor of the Winterset Christian church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
