MRS. C. A. JORGENSEN DIED HERE SUNDAY

Death Follows Extended Illness; Was 58 Years of Age

Mrs. C. A. Jorgensen, a well known Madison county resident, died at her home three miles north of Winterset, Sunday, Jan. 4th, after an extended illness. Mrs. Jorgensen who was 58 years of age, had a major operation last February, and her health has been poor since that time.

The deceased was the former Anna Jorgensen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George L. Jorgensen. she was born in Audubon county, Sept. 9, 1883. There she was married to Chris A. Jorgensen, Nov. 8, 1900 and they lived near Kimballtown, until in the early 1920's, when they came to Madison county. They lived on a farm near Macksburg, and then near Pitzer, and ten years ago, they moved to the farm three miles north of Winterset on U.S. 169 where they have since resided.

Mr. and Mrs. Jorgensen were the parents of ten children, three of whom died in infancy. She leaves her husband, and their seven children: Frank of Dexter, Elmer of Ankeny, Ralph of Boxholm, Max of Story City, Thelma Thomas of Macksburg, Miss Norma at home, and Miss Leone Jorgensen of Oak Park, Ill. she also leaves her aged parents, of Kimballton, three brothers, four sisters, and thirteen grandchildren.

Brief funeral services were held at the Ramsey-Richards funeral home here this morning and services are being held at the Lutheran church in Kimballton at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon and burial will be in the Kimballton cemetery. the Rev. E. W. Mueller, pastor of the Martensdale and Winterset Lutheran churches is conducting the service.

Dies Sunday At Farmhome North of Winterset At Age Of 58

Funeral services were held at the Ramsey and Richards funeral home Wednesday morning for Mrs. Chris Jorgensen who died at her farmhome Sunday at the age of 58 years. Rev. E. W. Mueller of Martensdale conducted the services, and interment was made at Kimballton.

Anna Sophia Jorgensen was born Sept. 9, 1883, the daughter of Sarah Stone and George L. Jorgensen at Kimballton, Iowa. She spent her childhood and youth attending the neighborhood school. She was a member of the Lutheran church during her entire lifetime.

On Nov. 8, 1900, she was united in marriage with Chris Jorgensen and they were the parents of ten children, three of whom preceded her in death. They moved to Madison county in 1921 and made their home on a farm north of Winterset.

Besides raising a large family, she made a home for two orphan boys, Robert Courtney, who at present is in the U. S. Navy, and Earl Cook at home.

Besides her husband she is survived by seven children, Frank of Dexter, Elmer of Ankeny, Ralph of Boxholm, Max of Story City, Mrs. Thelma Thomas of Macksburg, Norma of Winterset and Leona of Oak Park, Ill.; three brothers, four sisters and 13 grandchildren.
