Services for Ralph Day Minard, 98, New Virginia, who died Jan. 7 at Oskaloosa, were held Jan. 10 at the Kale Funeral Home in Truro with the Rev. Jim Patrick officiating. Burial was at the New Virginia cemetery.
Born on a farm near St. Charles on Oct. 15, 1887, he was the son of John and Lucy Minard. He attended St. Charles schools, and Drake University and later earned his master's and doctorate degree from the University of Iowa.
On July 21, 1926, he married Everil Dickinson at the Little Brown Church at Nashua.
Mr. Minard was a professor at Morristown College at Morristown, Tenn., for 35 years and was superintendent at St. Marys for seven years and had taught at various Iowa schools. He also engaged in farming.
Mr. Minard was a member of the Christian Church and Masonic Lodge and was a veteran of World War I.
Survivors include his wife of Oskaloosa; a daughter, Everill Lillian Faulkner and husband Hugh of Oskaloosa; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.

Metro Page 7NEW VIRGINIA, IA.—Ralph Minard, 98, of New Virginia, died of a heart ailment Tuesday at his daughter’s home in Oskaloosa. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Kale Funeral Home in Truro. Burial will be in the cemetery here.
Mr. Minard was born in St. Charles. He had been a professor for Morristown College in Morristown, Tenn., and was former superintendent for St. Marys School in St. Marys. He was a veteran of World War I.
Survivors include his wife, Clara Everil; a daughter, Everil Faulkner of Oskaloosa; and three grandchildren.
