LUELLA HOLMES DIED HERE MONDAY

Funeral Services Planned Thursday From Richards Funeral Home

Mrs. Luella Holmes, a long-time resident of Madison county, died Monday, March 28 at Madison county Memorial hospital in Winterset. She was 76 years of age.

Mrs. Holmes was born in Lucas county Dec. 28, 1878, a daughter of Joseph and Sarah Kennedy Oller but had lived in this community since early life.

She was married July 5, 1904 to Frank A. Holmes, who preceded her in death many years ago. In recent years she had operated a sewing and alterations shop in Winterset.

She was a member of the Winterset Christian church and was active in the Rebekah lodge here.

Surviving are four children, Mrs. Fontella DeWitt of Peru, Cloyce Holmes of Garden Grove, Calif., Mrs. Norene Evans of Des Moines and Orris Holmes of Van Nuys, Calif. She also leaves five grandchildren; four great grandchildren and six brothers and sisters; Mrs. Iva Carter of Winterset, John Oller of Creston, Earl Oller of Omaha, Mrs. Almeda Aylie of North Platte, Nebr., Mrs. Lela Martin of Des Moines and Lee Oller of Cutbank, Mont.

Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Richards Funeral home conducted by the Rev. Warren Hile, pastor of the Winterset Christian church. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery.
