Death of Retired Farmer Occurred July 7 at New Virginia
Thomas N. Lyons, retired farmer who lived most of his long life in Madison county, died Tuesday, July 7, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lee Keller of New Virginia. He was 88 years of age.
Mr. Lyons was born at Laceyville, O., on June 3, 1867, a son of Andrew E. and Martha Lyons. Most of his life was spent near Truro until his retirement in 1940.
He was married Jan. 20, 1892, to Mary E. Taylor. They celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary in 1942, but Mrs. Lyons preceded her husband in death in 1944.
He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Keller of New Virginia, Mrs. Harry DeLong of Truro, and Mrs. Lester Donelson of Clarinda. A daughter and son preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Saturday from the Kale Funeral home at Truro, conducted by the Rev. Leroy Moore, pastor of the New Virginia Methodist church. Burial was made in the Young cemetery at Truro.

Thomas Nixon Lyons, son of Andrew E. and Martha Lyons, was born June 3, 1867, at Laceyville, Ohio, and died on July 7, 1955, at the home of his daughter, Ida, in New Virginia.
Mr. Lyons moved to Truro when he was a young man and spent his entire life around Truro, New Virginia, and St. Marys. On January 20, 1892, he was married to Mary Eleanor Taylor. They lived on the farm until they moved to Truro in 1940, when Mr. Lyons retired. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1942.
He was preceded in death by his wife, a daughter, Nola Fern, and a son, Raymond Taylor. Mr. Lyons was the last of a family of ten children.
He is survived by his children, Mrs. Lee Keller of New Virginia, Mrs. Harry DeLong of Truro, and Mrs. Lester Donelson, of Clarinda, Iowa, seven grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Kale Funeral Home in Truro on July 9, with the Rev. Leroy Moore of the Methodist church in New Virginia officiating. Burial was at the Young cemetery at Truro.
