David Shull died at his home in Winterset October 10, 1902, aged 82 years, 2 months and 21 days. Mr. Shull was born in Erie, Pennsylvania July 20, 1820. He moved with his parents to Ohio in 1823 and came to Iowa in 1857, and lived in Winterset forty-five years. Mr. Shull was married to Miss Cynthia A. Odell May 28, 1854. Her death occurred in 1860. In May 1861 he was married to Miss Mary Jane Frye.
He leaves a wife and two daughters, Mrs. James Rhyno, of Lorimor and Mrs. Joe Fisher, of Des Moines. Harrison D. Shull, his only son, died in Winterset September 15, 1879, age 17 years. Mr. Shull in all the time of his long residence in Winterset was respected by his neighbors and acquaintances and honored by all as a good citizen and an upright man. His industry and integrity were well known. In his daily life he never by action or word gave any individual reason to doubt him. He is one of the old citizens of Winterset who will be long remembered.
