Vernon G. Jessup, a former resident of Macksburg, died Dec. 15, at a hospital in Omaha, according to word received here this week. He was 52 years of age.
Mr. Jessup was born in Macksburg March 25, 1902, and spent his early life there. In 1924 he went to Brighton, Colo., where he learned the trade of barber. There he was married to Sylvia Delph. They returned to Macksburg to live many years.
He was engaged in the restaurant business in Macksburg, until that was destroyed by fire. After that he operated telephone exchanges at Macksburg, Henderson, Zearing, Essex and Lewis. In 1952, he took over the Lewis cafe, which he was operating at the time of his death.
He was the father of four children, a son dying in infancy. Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Lena Jessup; his wife; and three daughters, Mrs. Richard Reese of Laredo, Tex., Mrs. Gene Doctor of Lewis, and Jo, at home.

Macksburg NewsFuneral services for Vernon Jessup of Lewis were held Saturday afternoon at the Baptist church. Mr. Jessup passed away Wednesday night after being in failing health for some time. Burial was made in the Moon cemetery.
