Veteran of World War I Dies at Veteran's Hospital
Lawrence W. Hull, a well known resident of the Peru community, died at Veteran's hospital in Des Moines last Wednesday, March 2. He was 65 years of age.
Mr. Hull had been a resident of Madison county for 30 years. He was a blacksmith, and engaged in construction work here. He was a veteran of World War I, having served in the U.S. navy from 1917 to 1919. He was a member of the American Legion.
He was a native of Gilman, Ia., where he was born Aug. 18, 1889, a son of Lawrence M. and Clara Hull.
He was married at Peru in 1920 to Jennie Weaver, who survives him. He also leaves a son, Laverne Hull of Peru; four sisters, Mrs. Lulu Scott and Mrs. Blanche Shields of Olathe, Kan., Mrs. Lela Danley of Los Angeles, and Mrs. Myrtle Bass of Peoria, Ill.
Funeral services were held Sunday from the Kale Funeral home at Truro, conducted by Rev. Ray Harness of Lacona. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
