Wednesday, January 12, 1955HUDSON RITES HELD HERE LAST SATURDAY
Funeral services for Fred Hudson, former Madison county resident, who died early Tuesday morning, January 4th in Downey, California, were held Saturday afternoon, at Anderson's funeral home in Winterset. The Rev. George DeF. Fisher, pastor of the First Presbyterian church conducted the services at 3 o'clock and burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
Mr. Hudson, who was 78 years of age, had always made his home in this community, prior to going to California, the latter part of December.
The out of town relatives who were here to attend his final rites included his son Robert, who had accompanied him to California; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hudson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and their two daughters, Mary and Donna, and a son Tom Jr. of Lynchburg, Ohio, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hudson and children Koser, Jane, Susan and Bonnie of Creston, and Mr. and Mrs. William Woody of Des Moines.
Mrs. B. B. Miles had a coffee, at her home on West Green, following the services, for the out of town relatives who were here that afternoon.

Fred Hudson, well known Winterset and Madison county resident, died in California, early Tuesday morning, Jan. 4 at the age of 78. Mr. Hudson was born in Winterset and had always had his home in this community until the week before Christmas when he and his son Bob moved to Downey, a suburb of Los Angeles to make their home with the former's sister, Mrs. Helen Flintham. He suffered a severe stroke early Monday morning.
The remains of Mr. Hudson are being sent back to Winterset and funeral services will be held at the Anderson Home for Funerals the latter part of this week.
Mr. Hudson was a son of T. J. Hudson, pioneer druggist of Winterset; he was born May 31, 1876. He was married to Miss Bessie Mendenhall of Winterset, Sept. 28, 1904, and they engaged in the plumbing business. Later they moved to a farm near Tileville and then in the late 30's they bought a farm in Scott township where they resided until Mr. Hudson sold his farm following the death of his wife, and retired three years ago. Mrs. Hudson dies May 18, 1950.
He is survived by his three sons, Fred Jr., of Creston, Tom of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Bob Hudson, who resided with his father. He also leaves the one sister, Helen Flintham, twelve grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. A son George died in 1937 and his daughter, Janice Hudson, resides in Winterset.
Mr. Hudson was a member of the Masonic lodge of Winterset.
