Winterset Resident Dies at Age of 43 in Hospital at Des Moines
Gertrude Rehard, a resident of Winterset and Madison county since 1902, died at the Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines last Wednesday after several years of failing health. She was 43 years of age.
Miss Rehard was born on March 4, 1897, in Lexington, Neb., the daughter of John and Elizabeth Rehard. In 1902 she came with her parents to Madison county. They lived on a farm west of Winterset. Her father died in 1909. She and her mother moved to Winterset in 1920, and this community had since been her home.
Miss Rehard was employed for a number of years as a clerk in the Graham store here.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by a sister, Mrs. Paul Kile, and six brothers; Ercie, Leonard, Edward, Ote, Oliver and Floyd Rehard.
Funeral services were held last Friday from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home, in charge of the Rev. W. A. Samp, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial was made in the Oak Grove cemetery in Webster township.
