Wednesday, August 10, 1955MRS. IRA GREENWOOD OF WINTERSET DIES
Mrs. Ira Greenwood, one of Winterset's oldest residents, died at her home here this Wednesday morning, at the age of 91 years. She had been in good health for her advanced years, but died in her sleep during the morning.
Mrs. Greenwood was the widow of Ira Greenwood, whose death occurred in 1940. She was a member of a pioneer Madison county family, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eli Cox. Her life had been spent in Madison county, with the exception of a few years in Dallas county.
Near surviving relatives include eight children: Mrs. Grace Betts of Grimes, Eli Greenwood of Branson, Mo., Mrs. Margaret Lee of Williamsburg, Ward and Guiher Greenwood of Winterset, Mrs. Amanda Semler of Lamoni, Mrs. Elizabeth Amiet of Tuscon, Ariz., and Merle Greenwood of Des Moines.
Funeral services had not been completed as the Madisonian went to press Wednesday.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Richards Funeral home in Winterset for Mrs. Ira Greenwood, member of a pioneer Madison county family whose death had occurred Wednesday, Aug. 10, at her home in Winterset.
Mrs. Greenwood was 91 years of age at her death. She was the former Amanda Cox, daughter of Eli and Mary Mills Cox, who were among the early settlers of this county. She was born Nov. 7, 1863 on a farm eight miles northeast of Winterset.
On Jan. 23, 1880, she was married to Ira Greenwood. They were parents of 10 children. Her husband and two of the children, Pearl and Charles preceded her in death.
She was a member of the United Presbyterian church. Surviving are eight children, Mrs. Grace Betts of Grimes, Eli Greenwood of Branson, Mo., Mrs. Margaret Lee of Williamsburg, Ward and Guiher Greenwood of Winterset, Mrs. Cuddie Semler of Lamoni, Mrs. Elizabeth Amiet of Tucson, Ariz., and Merle Greenwood of Des Moines. She also leaves 23 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.
