PHIL PYERS DIED TUESDAY MORNING

Jefferson Township Native Lived Many Years in Winterset

Phil Pyers, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Pyers of Winterset, died at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines early Tuesday after an extended illness. He was 49 years of age.

Mr. Phyers was born Feb. 4, 1900 in Jefferson township and spent his early years in Madison county. In 1915 he came with his parents to Winterset. This community was his home until 1928, when he moved to Des Moines.

As a young man he was married to Miss Helen Hall of Bevington. They were the parents of two sons.

He is survived by the wife and two sons, Gene and Richard Pyers, both of Des Moines; two granddaughters, Karen Lee and Joyce Ann Pyers; his parents of Winterset; a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Scott of Los Angeles; and a brother, Ross M. Pyers of Costa Mesa, Calif.

Funeral services will be held this Friday from the Hamilton funeral home in Des Moines and burial will be made in Memory Gardens there.
