Frances Plucar, Dexter

Frances Charles Plucar, 89, of Dexter died of multiple system failure Jan. 2, 2003 at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Graveside services were held Monday, Jan. 6, at Oak Hill Cemetery, Tama, with Pastor Neal Hanley officiating.

Frances Plucar was born July 26, 1913, to David Harrison and Harriet Belle (Collicott) Schoonover in Big Grove Township, Benton County. On Dec. 27, 1952, she married George Plucar in Kirksville, Mo. Frances was employed at Diamond Laboratories in Des Moines for 18 years, retiring in 1978. She had previously driven a school bus for the Chelsea Community School District.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Juanita Fruehauf; two sisters, Cecil Seim and Phoebe Gates; and a brother Earl Schoonover.

She is survived by her longtime companion, Bill Garrett of Dexter; a son, Charles Smith of Tama; three grandchildren; and two great-granchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Kuhn Funeral Homes of Dexter and Earlham.
