Kenneth J. Oller, 92, died May 28, 2005 at the Spring Ridge Nursing Home in Wheatridge, Colo.
Funeral services were held Thursday, June 2 at Olinger Crown Hill Chapel in Wheatridge with Pastor Aaron Gray officiating. Burial, with full military rites, was at Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery.
Ken Oller was born July 2, 1912 in Winterset to John and Susie (Hodges) Oller. During his elementary school years, his family moved to Creston where he attended school and worked his parents' dairy farm until the age of 13. In his teens, he lived and worked in all areas of the West and South as a migrant worker. He returned to Iowa when he was 20 and worked as a farmer and country store owner. Ken was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served from 1941-45 during World War ll. Following his discharge from the service, he returned to Creston and worked many farm-related jobs, from bluegrass stripping and wool buyer to produce wholesaler. On March 14, 1947, he married Neva August Green of Zion. They operated a bakery in Creston then moved to Kansas City, Mo., where he worked for TWA, then the Kansas City Medical Center as a machinist. During this time, he and his wife also raised pug dogs and continued to raise them after their move to Wheatridge, Colo., in 1966 where they owned and operated the Even-So Kennel.
He was preceded in death by his wife and four sisters, Cressie Foster, Dorothy Keyes, Doris Wykham and Thursta Digmatich.
He is survived by a brother, Joseph Oller of Knoxville.
