Mrs. Harriet A. Kimmey

Mrs. Harriet A. Kimmey who for the past few months made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Roy Jennings, near Van Meter, passed away June 15, 1931.

She was born December 12, 1851 near Belvidere, Illinois, On December 18, 1872 she was married to Warren M. Kimmey. To this union six children were born, all of them are living and were present at the funeral except Olin who died in 1903.

The children living are: Earl R. and Charles F. Kimmey of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Mrs. Roy Jennings of Van Meter, at whose home she died; Mrs. Frank Swift of Central City, and Mrs. Arthur Gude of Caldwell, New Jersey.

She is survived also by one sister, Mrs. Lillian Ritchie of Belvidere, Illinois, one brother, Herbert Reed of Long Beach, California and fifteen grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Kimmey came to Madison county, Iowa in 1876 where they lived until 1893 when they moved to Des Moines. Mr. Kimmey passed away in 1913.

On going to Des Moines, Mrs. Kimmey united with the First Methodist church where she was a member until 1907 when she transferred her membership to the Grace M. E. church of Des Moines.

The funeral service was conducted by her pastor, the Rev. W. L. Ewing in the Grace M. E. church at Des Moines, Thursday afternoon at two o'clock. Burial was in Woodland cemetery.
