Rex Dale Moore passed away peaceably at home in Booneville, Ia. on January 23, 2004.
Rex was born June 13, 1922 in Earlham and resided in Winterset until 1929 when the family moved to Booneville. Rex graduated from Van Meter High School in 1940 and attended Iowa State University and Simpson College. After Pearl Harbor, he enlisted in the U. S. Navy. Rex graduated from Annapolis Academy of the Air and served as a naval aviator on the Aircraft Carrier Roosevelt. He served for 3.5 years until the end of WW ll as Lieutenant J. G.
He married Irene Annan in 1949. They were married 35 years and raised their three children in the Chicago area where Rex was an executive with the General Motors Corporation for 24 years. In 1972 the family moved back to Van Meter where he owned and operated Rex Moore Chevrolet until 1981.
Rex is survived by his children, Rebecca Trimble, Gregory Moore, Debra Moore and husband (Don Stanley); grandchildren, Scott, Nebel, Melissa Moore, Jacob Trimble and Kassie Trimble; great-grandchildren, James and Caden Nebel and Destiny Moore.
Friends may all after 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 27. Family will greet friends from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Van Meter Methodist Church. Services will be Wednesday, January 29, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at the church and burial will follow at Van Meter Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be directed to Adel American Legion.
