Heart Ailment Results in Death of Dorothy Cole Lundgren
Mrs. Arvid Lundgren, former Winterset resident, who has lived in Des Moines since 1931 died at the Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines Saturday evening, Dec. 13 at the age of 52 years.
The former Dorothy Cole of Winterset, she suffered a heart attack in June, and was scheduled to undergo serious heart surgery at Rochester when she became worse and died after a few days illness in the Des Moines hospital.
Dorothy, as she was familiarly known, was born in Winterset, a daughter of Elmer K. and Alberta Cole, and was raised here; she was graduated from the local high school in 1926 and attended Drake University in Des Moines.
She has resided in Des Moines since 1931 and was married March 9, 1935 to Mr. Lundgren, who survives her.
She has been active in a number of Des Moines activities. She was a member of the Grace Methodist church, of Waveland Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and served on the board of the Des Moines womens club for several years.
She was also a member of the High One club, an organization of wives of Masonic members and just last March, completed a year as president of Chapter HX P. E. O.
Mrs. Lundgren is survived by her husband, her mother, Mrs. E. K. Cole, who now resides in Des Moines, also a sister Elizabeth Cole also of Des Moines; Don Cole of Dallas, Texas.
Her father died last year at Centralia, Missouri where they had lived after leaving Winterset.
Funeral services were held Tuesday December 16 at Dunn's Funeral Home at 1 p.m. and burial was in the Glendale Masonic cemetery.
