Well Known Madison County Farmer Died at Peru Tuesday Morning
P. W. Scott, well known Madison county resident, died at his home in Peru Tuesday morning, Dec. 3, about 5 o'clock. Mr. Scott, who was 82 years of age, had been in poor health for some time, but his condition had not been regarded as critical.
He was born in Adair county, Kentucky, Jan. 31, 1858, and came to this county in a covered wagon with his parents, when he was eleven years of age. Nearly all of his life was spent on a farm near Truro, but he and his wife moved to Peru last spring because of his poor health. He was married to Miss Edwina Wiggins, on March 4, 1880, and they observed their sixtieth wedding anniversary last spring.
Funeral services for Mr. Scott were held at the Methodist church in Truro this afternoon at two o'clock.
Mr. Scott is survived by his wife, and their six children: two sons, Billie and Frank Scott of Truro, and four daughters: Mrs. Maud Archer and Mrs. Edith Reed of Winterset, Mrs. Margaret Slinker of Peru, and Mrs. Lonnie Weed of Orient. He also leaves a brother, Sam Scott of Truro, and a sister, Mrs. Tommy Hiatt of Ackworth, and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Princeton W. Scott, son of William P. and Margaret D. Scott, was born near Edmonton, Ky., on Jan. 31, 1858, and died at his home in Peru on Dec. 3, 1940 at the age of 82 years, 10 months and 3 days.
He was one of a family of eleven children. He came to Iowa with his parents in May, 1863, and had lived in Madison county continuously since that time except five years spent in Clarke county.
He was united in marriage to Miss Edwina C. Wiggins on March 4, 1880. To this union was born nine children, all reaching maturity.
Three daughters, Mrs. Minnie Miller, Mrs. Sadie Woolery and Mrs. Dora Dick preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, four daughters, Mrs. O. N. Archer and Mrs. Edith Reed of Winterset, Mrs. L. L. Weed of Orient, and Mrs. Margaret Slinker of Peru; two sons, W. P. and C. F. Scott both of Truro; twenty-one grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Tommy Hiatt of Ackworth, one brother, S. D. Scott of Truro, besides a host of other relatives and friends.
He became a member of Ivy lodge No. 483 in Truro on May 20, 1899, and was later transferred to St. Charles where he was a member until death.

HELD FUNERAL SERVICES FOR P. W. SCOTT LAST THURSDAY
The funeral of P. W. Scott who died at his home here Dec. 3rd, was held in the Methodist church in Truro Thursday afternoon, Dec. 5th, conducted by Rev. J. H. Machlan, assisted by Rev. A. R. Weed of Carl. The pallbearers were six grandsons, Maurice Reed, Leo Dick, Claude Woolery, Franklin Weed, Dale Weed and Lonnie Junior Weed. The members of the Masonic lodge attended in a body and held their burial service at the Hartman cemetery south of Truro where he was buried.
Relatives from a distance who attended were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Scott, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Fouche, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Fouche, Mrs. Daisie Fouche, D. A. White all of Osceola, Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Hiatt, Mr. and Mrs. Jobe Allen and daughter Marie of Ackworth. Mrs. Delno Smith of Indianola, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Woolery, and Mrs. Snell of Webster City, Mrs. W. E. Fisher of Oelwein, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Wray, Mrs. Vere Warner, Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Weed, Misses Sarah Hillan and Ruth Slinker of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Weed and family, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Weed all of Orient.
