Earlham, Iowa
September 1940

Homer Virgil Ramsey, son of William and Susanna Ramsey, was born June 23, 1878, on a farm near Stuart, Iowa and passed into the life beyond September 5, in Earlham at the age of 62 years, two months and 13 days.

At the age of five years he moved with his parents to Jewel county, Kansas, where they lived for seven years. They moved in covered wagons back to Earlham, where he has made his home since, except two years spent in California between the years of 1936 and 1939.

He was united in marriage with Grace A. Benson, December 6, 1899. To this union were born five children, four of whom survive. One son, Vernon Earl, preceeded him in death, February 28, 1933.

Homer Ramsey was a birth-right member of the Conservative Friends church. He spent the greater part of his life on the farm, and later years as a carpenter. He was very devoted to his family, and memories of him will always be cherished by each member. Mr. Ramsey was respected by every one for his clean, quiet life, and always went about his business in a calm, unassuming manner. Young people especially seemed to admire him.

Sunday morning, September first, he was taken suddenly sick and passed away about one-thirty, Thursday morning, with all of the immediate family at his bedside except one daughter, Lora, who was prevented because of the great distance.

He leaves to mourn their loss the following: his berieved wife, four children, Lora Bond, Los Angeles, California; Ester Fogg, Guthrie Center, Iowa; Hugh W. and William C. of Earlham; four grandchildren; eight brothers and sisters; and a host of relatives and friends.

(Burial was made in the Earlham cemetery)
