Manager of Penn-Dixie Rock Quarry Succumbed to Pneumonia
Lee Eslinger, manager of the Penn-Dixie rock quarry near Winterset, died here last Thursday after a brief illness with pneumonia.
Mr. Eslinger came here last fall to take the position vacated by Glenn Poarch. He was 48 years of age.
Lee Otha Eslinger was born at Osceola, Missouri, September 18, 1888. He spent his childhood in that community, moving later to Iola, Kansas to make his home with an aunt.
He was married to Alma Deer of Seibert, Colorado. They lived in Valley Junction and Gilmore City, Iowa, where he was employed as quarry foreman by the Penn-Dixie corporation.
In addition to his widow, he is survived by a sister, Mrs. Otha Worthington of Eldorado Springs, Missouri; and four brothers, Clyde of Osceola, Missouri, Roy of Eldorado Springs, Missouri, Bert of Black Hills, South Dakota and Raymond of Winterset.
Funeral services were held Saturday from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home in Winterset and from the Valley Funeral home in Valley Junction in charge of the Rev. H. L. Olmstead of the local Church of Christ. Burial was made in Glendale cemetery at Des Moines
