Union, N.J., July 15--Harvey H. Preston, 57 years old, of 1971 Ostwood Terrace, died suddenly this morning at his home. Mr. Preston was the son of the late Mary A. Hall Preston and David W. Preston. He was born in Knox county, Ill., and when a very small child moved with his family to Iowa near Winterset where he grew to manhood. When a young man he joined with the United Brethren church and was a happy and faithful worker in both the Sunday school and church. In later years his illness prevented him from attending his church.

September 6, 1905 he was united in marriage with Adelaide Travis. To this union were born one daughter and two sons.

He came to New Jersey fourteen years ago and formerly was a plumbing and steam contractor. He had been in the ice and coal business here for the past eight years.

He was a kind and loving husband and father, a helpful and general friend to all who knew him. Despite his affliction which he suffered since early childhood, he was always able to smile and pass a cheery word to those around him. He loved life so much and struggled hard to live when most of us would have given up in hopelessness.

He loved his home and family and his greatest contentment came in knowing that they were happy. He was a great lover of nature and derived so much pleasure from his garden and flowers which were such an effort for him to care for.

He will be so greatly missed by his faithful loving wife; his daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Montgomery of Union; his sons, Elmo and Kenneth, both of Bloomfield; two sisters, Mrs. May Libby and Mrs. Amy Armstrong and two brothers, Earnest and Roy all of Iowa; four grandchildren, Richard Montgomery, Beverly Anne and Gayle Lynn Preston and Donald Preston; also a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Freeman funeral home, 2156 Morris avenue. Rev. Fred Druckenmiller, pastor of the Connecticut Farms Presbyterian church officiated. Interment was made in Graceland Memorial Park, Kenilworth, N. J.
