Denzel DeBok, Prole

Denzel Velma DeBok, 78, of rural Prole died Oct. 21, 2004 at her home.

Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 25, at Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset with Pastor Bobb Barrick officiating. Burial was at Montpelier Cemetery, Crawford township, Madison county.

Denzel DeBok was born May 29, 1926 to Orie and Dona (Rolls) Schermerhorn of Yale, Okla. On Feb. 24, 1945, she married Hubert Wayne DeBok in Winterset. A homemaker, Denzel was a life-time resident of the Winterset area. She had been a past member of local saddle clubs.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Frank Schermerhorn and Ray Baker; and a sister Beulah Hatfield.

She is survived by one son, Hubert DeBok, Jr. of Patterson; four daughters, Patricia Gurney of Wheaton, Ill., Penny Cowman of Newton and Vicky Morgan and Christy Myers, both of Indianola; two brothers, Jim Schermerhorn and Burl Schermerhorn, both of Des Moines; a sister, Maxine Gish of Des Moines; and six grandchildren.
