MISS ELSIE PEACH, FORMER RESIDENT, DIES

Funeral services for Miss Elsie Peach, who died Feb. 28 in Des Moines after a long illness, were held from the Methodist church in Winterset last Friday, and burial was made in the Winterset cemetery. The rites were conducted by the Rev. J. R. McNichols, pastor of the church here.

Miss Peach lived for many years in and near Winterset. She was born in Buena Vista county on Dec. 30, 1872, the daughter of Moston and Belle Peach. She went with her parents to Arkansas, and returned with them in 1894, when they settled on a farm near Winterset to make their home. In 1908 Mr. Peach retired from farming and the family moved to Winterset. Upon the death of the mother in 1929 she went to Des Moines to make her home with her sister, Mrs. Laura Gregory.

It is stated that Miss Peach had a great fondness for elderly people and children, and it was her delight to visit and care for the aged.

She is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Effie Gregory of Winterset, Mrs. Laura Gregory, Mrs. Irene Hoots, and Mrs. Alva Soderland, all of Des Moines, and one brother, Walter M. Peach of Pueblo, Col. She also leaves several nieces and nephews, Elsie Dingman, Hazel Ahn, Betty Soderland, Clyde Hoots, and Warren Gregory. Also three grandnieces and nephews, Richard and Janice Dingman and Dennis Ahn.

Funeral Services For Elsie Peach

Funeral services for Miss Elsie Peach, who died Wednesday in Des Moines, following a long illness, were held from the Methodist church in Winterset March 1, at two o’clock, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. J. R. McNichols. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Miss Peach is survived by three sisters; Mrs. Laura Gregory, Mrs. Irene Hoots and Mrs. Alva Soderland of Des Moines; one brother, Walter M. Of Pueblo, Colorado, and three nieces, Elsie Dingman, Hazel Ahn and Betty Soderland; two nephews, Clyde Hoots and Warren Gregory; three great nieces and nephews, Richard and Janice Dingman and Dennis Ahn and other relatives and friends.

Elsie Susan Peach, second daughter of Moston and Belle Peach, was born in Buena Vista county, Dec. 13, 1872. When a small child her father moved to Arkansas where he was engaged in newspaper work. The family came to Madison county in 1894 settling on a farm near Winterset. In 1908 the family retired to Winterset. Upon the death of her mother in 1929 she went to Des Moines to live with her sister Laura.
