DEATH OF TERRENCE O'LOUGHLIN MONDAY

Long-Time Resident Passed at Age of 94; Rites Held Wednesday

Another of Madison county's most venerable citizens passed Monday in the death of Terrence O'Loughlin who had been a resident of this community since 1867. He was 94 years of age.

Mr. O'Loughlin was born a native of Ireland in 1846, but came to this country with his parents when he was 10 years of age. The family settled at Fond du Lac, Wis., where he lived for 11 years. When he was 21 years old he was married and moved to Madison county. They made the trip here by stage coach. His entire life since that time had been spent here.

Mr. O'Loughlin became one of the county's most prosperous farmers. He was a devout Christian and one of the most influential members of St. Joseph's Catholic parish in Winterset.

His wife was the former Miss Mary Crystal of Fond du Lac, Wis. She died in 1911.

He is survived by three sons, the Rev. M. M. O'Loughlin of Fresno, Cal., and Thomas and Robert O'Loughlin of Winterset; and three daughters, Mrs. Agnes Hogan and Delia O'Loughlin of Winterset and Mrs. Austin Core of Knoxville. He also leaves 12 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held from St. Joseph's Catholic church in Winterset Wednesday, with requiem high mass in charge of the Rev. William Hahessy, assisted by the Rev. C. Lally of Des Moines, the Rev. H. Albers of Harlan, the Rev. P. Walsh of Mondamin, and the Rev. J. A. Minch, recently of St. Mary's parish, and the Rev. F. P. Larkin of Adair. Mass was sung by the Rev. Joe Foslemen and the Rev. Fred Reese of Des Moines, with Miss Ruth Mary Briggs of Des Moines as organist.

The body was taken to Janesville, Minn., for burial beside his wife.
