Veteran Resident of Penn Township Dies at Age of 75 Years
George A. Piatt, veteran resident of Penn township, died at the home of his son in that community last Saturday after an illness of but a few days. He was 75 years of age.
Mr. Piatt was born Dec. 8, 1864, near Cambridge, Ill., the son of Jacob and Emeline Piatt. He received his early schooling in Illinois, and at the age of 14 years came with his parents to Iowa in a covered wagon. They settled in Penn township.
On March 25, 1891, he was married to Laurena Hennen. They were the parents of three sons. Mrs. Piatt died in 1928.
He had united with the Early Chapel church in 1923, and attended services as long as his health permitted.
Mr. Piatt is survived by the three sons, Willard Piatt of Rockwell City, and Lawrence and Lester Piatt of Earlham; four grandchildren, Marlin, Warren, Phyllis and Hilda Piatt; a sister, Mrs. Lula Griswold of Winterset; and a brother, Walter Piatt of Earlham.
Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Penn Center church, in charge of the Rev. L. F. Davis of Winterset. Burial was made in the Penn Center cemetery.

Retired Farmer Dies At 75. Funeral Services Were Held Monday
George Allen Piatt, a resident of Madison county since early childhood, died Saturday evening at his home in Penn township following a few days illness. Mr. Piatt who was a retired farmer, died at the age of 75 years, three months and 23 days.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at two o’clock in the Penn Center church, conducted by the Rev. L. F. Davis. Burial was made in the Penn Center cemetery.
Mr. Piatt was born Dec. eight, 1864 in Henry county, near Cambridge, Illinois, the son of Emeline and Jacob H. Piatt. He received his early schooling in Illinois and at the age of 14 years, with his parents, came to Iowa in a covered wagon. They settled in Penn township, Madison county, where he finishes education and training.
He was united in marriage to Laurena Hennen and to this union were born three sons. He was a member of the Early Chapel church and attended services as long as his health permitted. His wife preceded him in death on Nov. 29, 1928 and since her death he made his home with his children.
He is survived by three sons, Willard of Rockwell City; Lawrence and Lester of Earlham; four grandchildren, Marlin, Warren, Phyllis and Hilda; one sister, Mrs. Lula Griswold of Winterset; one brother, Walter Piatt of Earlham and many other relatives and friends.
