Esther Mae Comp, 86, of Perry died of congestive heart failure March 14, 2001 at her home.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 17, at Westover Funeral Home in Des Moines. Burial was at Highland Memory Gardens in Des Moines.
Esther Comp was born July 30, 1914 to Louis and Lydia (Riser) Wilkie of Earlham. She married John Comp of Winterset on Valentine's Day. They resided in Des Moines where she owned a beauty shop. She also was a beautician at the Ramsey Memorial Home in Des Moines for several years. For the past six years she had been a resident of Perry. Esther was a member of the Earlham Presbyterian Church, Izaak Walton League (Ding Darling Chapter) and was instrumental in the founding of the Children's Forest.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, a sister and a brother.
She is survived by two sisters, Marian Anderson of Madrid and Berniece Thompson of Livonia, Mich.; and three grandchildren.
