Joseph Ray, an old resident and respected citizen of this county, died at his home in Crawford township last Saturday evening and was buried in the McGinnis cemetery, near Patterson on Monday.

Joseph Ray died at his home near Patterson on February 10, and the funeral services were held at the Christian church, after which the remains were taken to the McGinnis graveyard, where they were interred in their last resting place.

Joseph Ray was born in Green county, Illinois, Sept. 13, 1840. He was married to Missouri Scott, in the year 1864. To them were born three children, one of which died in infancy. He removed to Madison county, Iowa, in 1866. United with the Christian church, Feb. 15, 1885, and faithfully sustained his relations to the church until his death, which occurred February 10, 1900. During his last illness he expressed his willingness to lay down the burdens of life and depart into that “haven of rest” were it his Master’s call.

Joseph Wray died two weeks ago of dropsy, after several months sickness, and was buried in the McGinness cemetery west of Patterson.
