Mary Alice Scott, daughter of William and Margaret Scott, was born July 14, 1864 in Madison county, Iowa, and died at her home in Peru, Iowa, April 30, 1940, at the age of 75 years, 9 months, and 16 days.
She was united in marriage to D. A. White, December 31, 1880. To this union was born four children, Mrs. Daisy Fouche of Osceola, Laverne A. of Spokane, Wash., Byrma H., of Compton, Cal., and Leland M. of Seattle, Wash. The last three named were unable to be present at their mother's funeral. She also is survived by one sister, Mrs. Tom Hiatt of Ackworth, and two brothers, Priceton Scott of Peru, and Sam Scott of Truro.
She was converted in 1887 at the age of 23 years, and has lived a Christian life since. Her life proved she knew her Lord and had followed Him throughout her life.
Mrs. White and her husband would have been married 60 years had she lived until winter. She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, her four children, 14 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and other relatives and a host of friends.
