Former Resident Died Last Friday After Long Illness
William Francis Gentry, a native of near Winterset but a resident of near Norwalk for the past several years, died last Friday at the state hospital in Iowa City after an illness of more than a year. He was 65 years of age.
Mr. Gentry was born near Winterset on Nov. 7, 1875, the son of William and Ellen Gentry. He was married to Minnie B. Norris on Dec. 25, 1902. They were the parents of three children. One daughter, Mrs. Dorothy White, preceded her father in death.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Kathryn Kinnaird of Norwalk; his son, Raymond Gentry of Milton, Wash.; four grandchildren; two brothers, Byron Gentry of St. Charles and Mac Gentry of Winterset; and four sisters, Mrs. H. E. Farris of Atwood, Colo., Mrs. Dana Palmer of Ottawa, Ill., Mrs. A. P. Stickler of Altoona, and Miss Sylvia Gentry of Winterset.
Brief rites were held at Norwalk, Monday, after which funeral services were held in Winterset from the Anderson home for funerals, in charge of the Rev. David Barker of the Norwalk Methodist church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
