Had Lived More Than Four Score Years in Madison County
Mrs. Elmira Craven, whose long life in Madison county had spanned more than four score years, died Monday night at the home of her son, Roy Craven of Winterset. She was 83 years of age.
Mrs. Craven was a life-long resident of the county. She was born in a log cabin near Hebron on March 8, 1857, the daughter of William and Anna Kivett. She was married about 65 years ago.
Mr. and Mrs. Craven were the parents of four children, all of whom survive. They are John F. Craven of Carlton, Ore., Mrs. Lulu Shackelford of Lorimor, Mrs. Elsie DeVault of Juneau, Alaska, and Roy Craven of Winterset. There are also 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Craven had suffered a fractured hip in a fall last March, and since that time had been an invalid.
Funeral services will be held this Friday at 2 p.m. from the Winterset Church of Christ, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. Tom Foglesong. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery.
