Death of James Trester

James Trester, a former resident of Madison county, died Sunday evening at his home in Des Moines. He was eighty-four years of age. He leaves to mourn his loss, three sons, Ed Trester of Winterset, Edman Trester of Duluth, Minnesota, Leslie Trester of Des Moines and four daughters, Mrs. Lucy Thompson of Des Moines, Mrs. Clara Frazier of Denver, Colorado, Mrs. Ida Wiggins and Mrs. Dora Philpot of Chicago and a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. S. G. Dunn of Winterset is a sister.

Funeral services were conducted at the E. Carl White funeral home in Des Moines, Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. by the Rev. W. C. Porter of the United Presbyterian church of Winterset. Burial was made in Wisconsin by the side of his wife who preceded him in death several years ago.

James Martin Trester

James Martin Trester, son of Jacob and Rachel Trester, was born in Indiana on April 8, 1840. He died at the home of his daughter in Des Moines, September 22, 1930, aged 84 years. He was married to Matilda Ann Yahn on September 6, 1866. She died on May 13, 1915.

Mr. Trester came to Madison county, Iowa, in a covered wagon with his parents in 1856, and except for about five years in Wisconsin and Minnesota he spent nearly all of his life here.

There were eight children in the family; Mrs. Ida Wiggins of Chicago; Hattie, deceased in 1893; Edmund of Superior, Wisconsin; Edwin of Winterset; S. L. of Des Moines; Mrs. Clara Frazier of Denver, Colorado; Mrs. Dora Philpot of Chicago; Mrs. E. E. Thompson of Des Moines. Two sisters, Mrs. S. G. Dunn of Winterset and Mrs. Frank Graskell of Horton, Missouri; 27 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren also survive.

He was a lifelong member of the church and active in Bible school work. At the time of his death his membership was in a Presbyterian church at St. Paul.

The funeral was held in White's funeral home in Des Moines on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, in charge of W. C. Porter of Winterset. Burial will be made beside his wife at Hudson, Wisconsin. His son, Edwin, accompanied the body to the last resting place.
