GLENN V. CLINE, WINTERSET

Glenn V. Cline, 83, of Winterset, Iowa, died Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at home.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 1, at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Middle River Hospice in Winterset.

Glenn was born Feb. 15, 1924, in Winterset, the son of Patrick and Myrtle (Seiler) Cline. Glenn graduated from Winterset High School in 1942 and later served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946. During his service to his country, Glenn was stationed on the USS Goodhue and taught navigation at the Great Lakes Training Station in Waukegon, Ill. His marriage to Patricia Rose Bricker took place on March 24, 1943, in Nashua, Iowa. To this union five children were born.

During his working career, Glenn was employed by Anderson Erickson Dairy as a route driver. He later worked for Life Investors Insurance Company. Glenn also worked as a commodities broker for the Clayton Brokerage Company, retiring as manager in 1987 after 18 years. He also founded and operated Cline’s Orchard north of Winterset from 1975 to 1996.

As a youth, Glenn was involved in Boy Scouts and as an adult served as a scoutmaster in Winterset. He also was a member of the Iowa Genealogical Society and the Iowa Fruit Growers Association. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeye fan.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia, of Winterset; five sons, Dennis (Sharyl) Cline of Chester, Va., Steve Cline of Pleasant Hill, Robert (Marty) Cline of Winterset, Kevin (Teresa) Cline of Des Moines, David (Mary) Cline of Patterson; two brothers, Gail (Bev) Cline and Murray (Arlene) Cline, both of Winterset; three sisters, Wilma Jordan of Peru, Janice Feldman of Van Meter, and Jeanne Rieck of Ames; six grandchildren, Sara Cline (Chris Brown), Lindsay Cline, Emily Cline, Ian (Dawn) Cline, Stacy (Sherri) White and Kim (Al) Leonard; and six great-grandchildren, Jasmine Cline, Troyce White, Utonda White, Tanner White, Trey White, and Alyse Leonard; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ralph Cline; a sister, Norma Junkin; and four brothers-in-law, Ralph Feldman, Don Rieck, Don Jordan, and Frank Junkin.
