RUBY KINYON, ORIENT

Winterset Madisonian, June 6, 2007

Ruby W. Kinyon, 88, of Orient died May 29, 2007, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 1, at the Orient United Methodist Church with Pastor Karen Hoff officiating. Burial was at Greenfield Cemetery.

Ruby Kinyon was born Jan. 26, 1919, to Earl and Minnie “Dolly” (Norman) Nash of Bower, Neb. She attended school in Fairbury, Neb., until she was a teenager. Her family then moved south of Orient, near the Zion and Spaulding areas. Her marriage to Lysle E. Kinyon took place March 3, 1940, at the Greenfield Methodist parsonage. Ruby and Lysle lived and farmed north of Orient until 1964, when they moved into town. She was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Creston, Our Neighbors Club, Harmony Circle and the Bank Coffee Group. She also was a member of the Orient United Methodist Church, where she was active with the United Methodist Women, serving as president, and serving on the memorial and missions committees.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter in infancy, Janet K; one son, Gary E.; and two sisters, Myrtle Stiles and Bernice Kingery.

She is survived by two grandsons, Steve Kinyon of Afton and Troy Kinyon of Bettendorf, and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Steen Funeral Homes of Greenfield-Fontanelle-Massena.
