Another tragic motor vehicle accident, occurred in Winterset last Thursday, resulting in the death of Mrs. Perly Palmer, 24-year-old expectant mother and mother of two small children.
Mrs. Palmer was killed when the car in which she was a passenger, driven by her husband and a car driven by Carl Farlow, son of Mr. an Mrs. Earl Farlow of Winterset collided at a street intersection.
The accident occurred about 1 p.m. at the intersection of South Third and Grade streets in the southeast part of town. Mr. and Mrs. Palmer had driven into town from their home in Scott township, bringing their 4-year-old son, Pat and Mrs. Louis Cleland and her grandson, Dwight Cleland.
The Palmer car was coming north on South Third street and the Farlow car was going east on Grade street when they met at the intersection.
The impact of the collision turned the Palmer car over in the ditch. Either Mrs. Palmer was thrown out of the car or she attempted to jump from it and the vehicle rolled over on her. She suffered a broken back, crushed chest and a head injury. She was rushed to the Winterset hospital immediately but died within half an hour.
