Native of Madison County Spent Most of Life In Kansas
Word has been received here of the death of J. P. Nolan, former Madison county resident, who had in recent years made his home in Garden City, Kan. Mr. Nolan, 61 years of age, died suddenly Sunday Jan. 24th at his home. He and Mrs. Nolan had returned the preceding day by train from a visit with children, grandchildren and other relatives in California. He was feeling well upon arrival, and after visiting with friends, retired and about 1 a.m. he was stricken with paralysis and did not regain consciousness before his death nine hours later.
Nolan was a native of Madison county and grew to manhood on a farm near Patterson. He was married in 1903 to Catherine Gavin, in Rocky Ford, Colo., but 30 years ago moved to Garden City where he had since resided. He was for many years manager of the Garden City Sugar and Land company, but since 1919 he has devoted all of his time to farming and production of livestock.
He is survived by his wife, three daughters, and one son; Mrs. Reginald LaBrunker of Topeka, Kan., Mrs. Ray Bright of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Miss Kathryn Nolan of Los Angeles, Calif., and William Nolan of San Bernadino, Calif. He also leaves his mother, Mrs. Annie Nolan of Des Moines and four sisters and a brother; Mrs. Luther French and Mrs. Martin Cahill of Des Moines, Mrs. H. E. Brennan of Dodge City, Kan., Mrs. E. P. Martin of Marshalltown and J. W. Nolan of Garden City.
Funeral and burial services were held in Garden City.
