Former Winterset Resident Died Oct. 9 at Home in Detroit
Funeral services for Mrs. Sam Osborn, former Winterset resident, were held at Shannon City on Tuesday of last week and burial was made in the cemetery there.
Mrs. Osborn's death had occurred Oct. 9, at Detroit Mich., which had been her home in recent years.
Mrs. Osborn was the former Miss Retta Butt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Butt and was born near Knowlton, moving to Shannon City in 1914. In 1918 she was married to Sam Osborn at Osceola. They made their home in Winterset from 1931 to 1937, when they moved to Detroit.
She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Hazel Osborn Harper and Mrs. Norma Osborn Shaffer, all of Detroit; one son by a former marriage, Sgt. Merrill Hooker, now with the American army in North Africa; and six foster children, Harold Osborn, of the U. S. navy, Mrs. Tommie Collier of Creston, Kenneth Osborn of Winterset, Irvin Osborn of the U. S. army, Lucien Osborn of Sandwich, Ill., and Paul Osborn of California. She also leaves her father and three brothers.
