Death of J. A. Kale

James A. Kale died at Spokane, Wash., Thursday, Sept. 10. Mr. Kale was a son of the late James Kale of Scott township. He was born in Madison county in 1872 and passed away at the age of 53 years. The last ten years of his life were spent in the north and west. Mr. Kale sustained a bad injury on the head in June, which was followed by what was pronounced as sleeping sickness.

He leaves two daughters, two sisters and four brothers, two of whom, Fred and Lester, live in Winterset. The remains were brought here for interment. Funerals services, conducted by Rev. F. Care McCallon of the Church of Christ, were held at the Fred Kale home, Tuesday afternoon.

James Anell Kale

James Anell Kale, son of James and Rue Kale, was born in Madison county, Iowa July 14, 1872. His early life with the exception of a few years was spent in Madison county. In 1893 he was married to Mabel Turner, to which union were born two daughters, Lena and Hazel. In 1898 he served in the Spanish-American war. The last ten years of his life were spent in the north and west. He died at Spokane, Wash. Sept. 10 at the age of 53 years, 1 month and 25 days.

Besides the two daughters, Mrs. Lena Benson of Polk City, and Mrs. Hazel Maddox of Kananwha, Iowa, he leaves two sisters, Cora McNeley of Des Moines, and Mrs. Etta Husted of Truro; also four brothers; Wilbur of St Charles, Ora of Des Moines, and Fred and Lester of Winterset. Funeral services were held at the Fred Kale home on Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. F. Clare McCallon of the Church of Christ, and burial made in the Winterset cemetery.
