A. L. BALLARD DIED HERE LAST FRIDAY

Funeral Rites and Burial Were Held Here on Sunday

Arthur L. Ballard, well known Winterset resident, died at his home here last Friday after a long illness. He was 75 years of age.

Mr. Ballard was a life-long resident of Iowa. He was born near Story City on Nov. 19, 1866. He was married there on March 4, 1895 to Alta Souers, also of that community. They were the parents of five children.

They moved to this county and lived for several years on a farm near St. Charles, before moving into Winterset about 25 years ago. This community had since been their home, with the exception of a brief residence in Des Moines.

Mr. Ballard was a member of the Church of Christ, the Masonic fraternity and Order of Easter Star.

He is survived by his wife; four children, Mrs. Ruth Brubaker of Des Moines, Loyd Ballard of Sioux City, Lyle Ballard of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Mrs. Dorothy Taylor of Hawaii; and four grandchildren. One daughter, Mrs. Verna Husted, preceded the father in death.

Funeral services were held Sunday from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home, in charge of the Rev. Tom Foglesong, pastor of the Church of Christ. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery, with Masonic rites at the grave.
