MORTUARY

Robert Leonard Downard, son of Isaac C. and Anna Downard, was born March 1, 1875, in Van Buren county, Iowa and died in Winterset Tuesday, Oct. 7th, following an extended illness. He was married to Alice V. Carpenter in 1902 and she preceded him in death in October, 1940.

Mr. Downard lived in Chariton for several years, but for the past 17 years had resided in Winterset.

He is survived by his eight children: Glen Detroit, Mich., Dwaine of Maywood, Ill., Loren of California, Harold of Des Moines, Ed of Camp Claiborne, La., Charles of North Carolina, Rex of Oskaloosa, and Sherlly of Winterset. He also leaves several brothers and sisters: Tom Downard of Booneville, William of Des Moines, George of Winterset, Claude of Chariton, Helen of Clarinda, Maude Leora and James Downard of California, and Sadie of Chariton.

The Rev. Tom Foglesong conducted his funeral services at the Ramsey-Richards funeral home last Friday afternoon.
