HARRY McCOMBS KILLED IN TEXAS

Born in Jefferson Township, Was Formerly in Business in DeSoto

Harry D. McCombs, one-time widely known Jefferson township resident, was killed on Wednesday of last week while riding his bicycle at San Juan, Tex., according to information reaching here.

Mr. McCombs was 74 years of age. He was an uncle of Neil Anderson of Winterset and had visited here this summer.

He was the son of Hugh McCombs, one of the early settlers of Jefferson township, and was reared in that community. For many years he was in the brick and tile business at DeSoto.

Mr. McCombs was married on Oct. 3, 1889, to Miss Nellie Pearn of DeSoto. She died just about 10 months ago. Their son, H. L. McCombs, is now superintendent of the Des Moines public school system.
