Former Resident of Lee Township Passes at Age of 75 Years
James Horan, a resident of Winterset for the past two years, died at his home here early Tuesday after an illness of several weeks. He was 75 years of age.
Mr. Horan had lived practically all his life in Madison county. Most of his active life was spent as a farmer in Lee township, where he was long an influential citizen.
He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Horan, who were early settlers in the Irish settlement of Madison county.
Mr. Horan never married. He is survived by two sisters, Miss Ella Horan of Winterset, and Mrs. J. H. McLaughlin of Lee township.
Funeral services will be held this Wednesday from St. Patrick's Catholic church in Lee township, and burial will be made in the cemetery there.

Funeral Services Held At St. Patrick’s Wednesday At Ten O’Clock
James Horan, 75 years of age, died Tuesday morning at his home on West North street, following an extended period of ill health.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning, at ten o’clock in St. Patrick’s Catholic church, Irish Settlement, the Rev. John Reynolds, reading the Requiem Mass. Burial will be made in St. Patrick’s cemetery.
Mr. Horan was born in Crawford township, the son of early county pioneers, settling along the North River. His life’s occupation was farming, having lived in Crawford and Lee townships.
He and his sister, Ella Horan, moved to Winterset two years ago, where they have since resided. He never married.
Surviving are two sisters, Miss Ella Horan of Winterset and Mrs. J. H. McLaughlin of Lee township.
