Page 1Death of Mrs. Charles Deets
Mrs. Charles E. Deets, prominent resident of Earlham, died December 5 while visiting at the home of her sister-in-law, Mrs. W. O. Sargent, near Ankeny. She was 55 years old.
Mrs. Deets was born Laura Buchanan, near Peoria, Illinois. At the age of five she came with her parents to Warren county, Iowa, near Carlisle, and that community was for many years her home.
On February 22, 1893, she married Charles E. Deets. They were the parents of three children. In 1910 they moved to a farm near Earlham, living there until 1925 when they moved into the town of Earlham.
Mrs. Deets is survived by her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Berniece Griffith of Winterset; two sons, Homer Deets and Worth Deets of Earlham; five grandchildren; two brothers, William Buchanan and Edward Buchanan of Carlisle; and a sister, Mrs. Edith Simons of Indianola.
Funeral services were held last Friday at the Scotch Ridge Presbyterian church in charge of the Rev. A. R. Weed, assisted by the Rev. A. J. McConnell. Burial was made in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Charles Deets of Earlham died Wednesday at the home of Mrs. William Sargant in Ankeny, Iowa, where she and Mr. Deets went to visit several weeks ago. She was taken sick while there.
Mrs. Deets leaves besides her husband, two sons and a daughter, Worth Deets, Homer Deets and Mrs. Robert Griffith and several grandchildren who live in the Worthington neighborhood. She was 63 years old.

Thursday, December 13, 1934Laura Love Buchanan daughter of Alex and Caroline Buchanan was born March 4, 1871 near Peoria, Ill.
When she was five years of age she moved with her parents to Warren county, Iowa, near Carlisle where she grew to womanhood.
On February 22, 1893 she was united in marriage to Charles E. Deets. To this union three children were born.
In the spring of 1910 she with her family moved to a farm near Earlham. In December of 1925 she and her husband moved to the town of Earlham where she resided until her death.
She departed this life December 5, 1934, at the age of 63 years, nine months and one day at the home of her husband’s sister, Mrs. W. O. Sargent near Ankeny, Iowa, where she went to visit for a few days.
To mourn her loss she leaves her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Berniece Griffith of Winterset, two sons Homer R. and Worth H. of Earlham, five grandchildren, two brothers, William and Edward Buchanan of Carlisle, one sister, Mrs. Edith Simons of Indianola, several nieces and nephews. Her parents and two sisters preceded her in death.
The funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Scotch Ridge Presbyterian church with Rev. A. R. Weed assisted by Rev. A. J. McConnell in charge. Burial was in the church cemetery.
