MRS. BERTHA BENNETT OF TRURO SUCCUMBS

Passed Last Wednesday at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines

Truro--(Special)--Mrs. Bertha Bennett, long-time resident of this community, died on Wednesday of last week at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines. She was 71 years of age.

Mrs. Bennett was the former Bertha A. Secrease, daughter of R. W. and Sarah Secrease, and was born Jan. 10, 1870, on the Secrease farm south of Truro.

In 1899 she was married to Elijah Davis. They were the parents of one son. Mr. Davis died in 1891. She was later married to W. A. Henthorne, and they were the parents of four children.

She was married for the third time in 1931 to Herman Bennett, who died in 1936.

She is survived by three children, Frank Davis of Truro, Arlie Henthorne of Des Moines, and Mrs. Georgia Cunningham of San Luis Obispo, Cal.; one grandson, Arlie Pete Henthorne of Des Moines; nine foster children; and three sisters, Mollie Davis of Burr Oak, Kan., Hattie Fowler of Des Moines, and Florence Grimes of Peru.

Funeral services were held last Friday afternoon from Kale's funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Mr. Machlan of the Peru Methodist church. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
