Mrs. Bert Shaffer, a former resident of Madison county, died Jan. 19, at her home in Laurel, Mont., according to word reaching here this week. She was 74 years of age.

Mrs. Shaffer was born in Madison county May 11, 1879, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Abe White. She and her husband left here 40 years ago to make their home in Montana. Her husband preceded her in death.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Russell Barr of Laurel and Mrs. Meredith Prewitt of California.
