Word has been received here that D. T. Welch, a former resident of Winterset, had died at his home in Pacific Grove, California, Tuesday, March 4th. He was 86 years of age, and had been in poor health for some time. Burial was made in California. Mr. Welch had a dry goods store here for a number of years.

D. T. Welch
D. T. Welch, 86, former Winterset dry goods merchant, died March 4 at his home on Pacific Grove, California. The news of his death was received from Miss Virginia Strong, a former resident of Winterset, in a letter to Mrs. Georgia McMillan.
Mr. Welch came to Winterset about 1881 from Knoxville. He was a successful businessman. After the death of his wife he moved to California and was married to Miss Snively who survives him. Mr. Welch was a veteran of the Civil war.
